Wow. Well. Let’s start with my reasoning as to how and why I even decided to go to Florida. Generally speaking, I just wanted to get out of my hometown, Vista. I go stir-crazy here more often than not. I knew I had to go somewhere for my mental health, and Florida just kind of worked out. It just so happened that my sister moved out there, and so that ended up becoming my reasoning as to why I wanted to go here.
So let’s talk logistics. I knew that I wanted to go but now my question was who did I want to go with? Then, once I figured that out, I had to figure out my financial situation in addition to when exactly we could all go. We decided to go in January of 2023, and I went with my 2 friends named Ashley and Andrew, of course in addition to myself. This trip actually started off really fun. We woke up super early to make it down to the San Diego Airport in order to catch our flight around 9 am. I remember being so hungry once we got through security so I knew what this meant, time for a 7 am french fry snack! We waited at our gate for them to soon line us up in order to board the plane. We had a layover in Dallas Texas, but ended up making it into Florida by about 8:30 pm Eastern Time.
Once we landed, we had to find our rental car. This was a very difficult task because we landed in Orlando Airport, and it was huge. We weren’t familiar with the area, and we had booked our rental car with a company that I hadn’t personally ever used. Turo. We finally were able to get a hold of our rental car and home we went to our Airbnb. We got lost, but we finally settled in at about 10:30 pm. We slept so well after we went to Walmart to grab some snacks. We found McDonalds for dinner and finally crashed out at our Airbnb at around 11 pm.
We woke up the next day to go to the Museum of Illusion to meet up with my sister Danae, who I hadn’t seen about a year prior to that. I can add some pictures to this, but it was a blast. We then found some snow cones and chowed down. By then we were all so tired, we went back to the Airbnb, and we all took a nap for about 3 hours. We then woke up to go to grab some food. We collectively decided on Texas Roadhouse. It was okay, but we filled our bellies and went home. We fell asleep.
We then woke up and it was our last full day to spend in Florida. We decided on going to Daytona Beach, but on our way there, we got hit by a flying trashcan. We arrived at the beach while on the phone with the rental agency. All was well and everyone was safe. The car had minimal to no damage. We chilled around Daytona then made the drive back to the town we were staying in Kissimmee. We went back to our home, and a few hours later, we went souvenir shopping at a place that had a massive wizard head on top of the building. Funny. We got some goods and then headed back to our home.
The next morning we had to wake up early to fly home. We woke up at about 3:30 am Florida time and then started our travels. We made it back to San Diego at about noon, and this concluded our trip. Overall it was a blast and I hope to do it again soon! Thank you for reading my Florida blog post!
